ANXIETY Treatment
Anxiety comes in many forms and can manifest in different ways. Anxiety is a normal emotion that everyone has from time to time. But when anxiety reaches a disorder level, it is classified as persistent, intense, and excessive worry about everyday situations. Sometimes anxiety reaches an even higher level, resulting in overwhelming feelings of dread and terror (called “panic attacks”).
Some types of anxiety disorders include but are not limited to:
generalized anxiety disorder
social anxiety - fears and avoidance of social situations
separation anxiety - fears related to the absence of another person
panic disorder - frequent panic attacks
phobias - fears of specific triggers
agoraphobia - fears of leaving the house
Anxiety may cause you to avoid certain people, places, and things, and can result in almost constant rumination that leaves you feeling tired, irritable, and out of control.
Many people also experience anxiety related to things that are less likely to happen and have behaviors that they feel compelled to do in order to make the anxiety stop. If that sounds like you, you may have OCD.
