ABOUT OUR THERAPISTS

Samantha Lane, LCSW OCD therapist Wicker Park Chicago ERP therapist
  • Whether you are experiencing more anxiety or overwhelm than you once did, illness, loss, difficulties with your partner, or just haven’t been feeling like yourself, it can be exhausting. You are tired of feeling this way, and may feel that the people in your life don’t understand what you are going through. You want to feel in control of your own life again.

Imagine a life where you feel motivated, empowered, and fulfilled. A life in which you are confident you have the tools you need to overcome whatever challenges life may throw at you. Where you are moving forward into the life you want to live, and have created for yourself.

As your therapist, I work with you to create a customized plan to get you feeling “back on track”. I understand that you are the expert on your own life. You have lived through and survived so much already, and you bring strengths you have already learned into our work together. I use a combination of cognitive-behavioral approaches, mindfulness, and acceptance to help guide you to a place of balance and wellness. I use a flexible, individualized approach, as one size does not fit all when it comes to therapy. Therapy is a team approach, but you are ultimately in charge of your progress in therapy and what you want to work on. Together, we will identify and transform the patterns, thoughts, and behaviors that are no longer working in your life.

  • My specialities include OCD, chronic illness, anxiety, and panic disorders, religious trauma, relationship concerns, and grief. I have both personal and professional expertise working with individuals with cancer and their loved ones. Before working full time as a therapist, I worked as a social worker in both hospital and hospice settings.

I am a queer, kink/poly & ENM-affirming therapist. I am personally part of these communities and understand the importance of having a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space to process the ways in which these marginalizations can impact your life.

  • I utilize a number of different treatment approaches in my work. For OCD treatment, I am an Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) trained therapist and have been utilizing ERP with clients for over 5 years. I recieved ERP training through the International OCD Foundation and attend their conferences yearly in order to continue to grow my education in OCD and the newest treatment methods for OCD. I also utilize Inference Based CBT (I-CBT) for OCD, which is a newer treatment method that has proven successful for those that haven’t had success with ERP. You can learn more about these treatment methods for OCD here.

With all of my clients, I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is a cognitive behavioral therapy that focuses on behavioral change through living in accordance with your values.

As of June of 2025, I will be trained in EMDR.
